October 12, 2024
Our Pioneers were all business while racing Friday at the Rose City Championship in Portland.
Grace Carrillo led the girls team through 5k with a personal best of 18:38. Her time makes her the second fastest girl in Oregon City's school history! Olivia Beaudin also raced well in the Championship Division, posting her second fastest race of the season. Other notable performances include breakout races from Sophia Grisham(2min PR), Lexie Ortiz(36sec PR), Gracie Cornwall(1min 19sec PR) and Elliott Sroufe(59sec PR).
The boys team backed their #7 ranking in the recent 6A poll. Joel Reed raced to a scorching 15:27, putting him #4 all-time in school history. Tyler Scott joins Joel on the all-time list in the #6 spot with a clocking of 15:37. Hunter McKenzie and Clark Mortensen both posted impressive PR's, and Cole Solari rounded out the team score for a 7th place finish versus some great teams from Idaho, Washington and Oregon. The Pioneers broke a 28 year-old school record with their total time eclipsing our 1996 State Champion Team race times.
